The Design Story

A winged, flared glass form animated by submerged ribbons of sapphire, turquoise, bubbles, and reflected light.

The Océane Handblown Glass Sculpture opens outward from a narrow base into a broad, wing-like rim. Its symmetrical flare suggests a vessel without behaving like one, using the tension between a dense center and sweeping translucent edges to create its presence.

Sapphire and turquoise glass move through the form in submerged ribbons, punctuated by bubbles and paler currents that become more visible in changing light. The 20-inch span gives Océane enough scale to anchor a console, dining surface, or desk while the transparent perimeter keeps the piece visually buoyant.

Design Highlights

  1. 01 Mouth-Blown Art Glass: The free-formed sculpture is shaped by a skilled artisan while the glass is molten.
  2. 02 Sapphire & Turquoise Color: Layered blue currents create depth within the transparent body rather than sitting on its surface.
  3. 03 Winged Silhouette: A narrow base expands into a 20-inch flared rim with fluid bilateral movement.
  4. 04 Handmade Variation: Differences in shape, size, bubbles, and color distribution are inherent to mouth-blown glass.

Material Character

The Nature of the Piece

Océane’s color is carried through the thickness of the glass in sapphire and turquoise ribbons. Clearer edges, darker folds, and suspended bubbles create a sense of movement that changes with the viewing angle and surrounding light.

The sculpture is free formed by hand, so subtle variations in contour, dimensions, bubbles, and color placement are expected. These shifts are part of the mouth-blown process and make each piece materially distinct.

Additional Information

No two homes come together in quite the same way—and neither do the pieces chosen for them. Our collection brings together furnishings and objects from a variety of makers and manufacturers, each with its own production schedules, shipping methods, and delivery options.

We consider those differences part of the process of sourcing pieces with character. Whether an item arrives by parcel within days, travels by freight, or is prepared especially for your order, our focus remains the same: selecting pieces worth bringing into your home and making the journey from their source to your space as thoughtful as possible.

A well-considered home isn't assembled all at once. It takes shape piece by piece, through objects chosen not simply to fill a space, but to make that space feel like home.
