The Design Story

Architectural Wood & Ivory Bouclé

Adélaïde finds its character in the meeting of two contrasting elements: the gentle texture of ivory bouclé and the strong architectural lines of exposed wood arms. The result is a chair that feels substantial without appearing heavy, with an inviting upholstered form held within a beautifully defined geometric framework.

Broad wooden armrests extend horizontally before turning downward into straight, grounded supports, creating a distinctive silhouette that feels both contemporary and quietly architectural. Inside this framework, the gently reclined upholstered back and generously cushioned seat soften the composition, bringing comfort and ease to its structured form.

The contrast is deliberate. Warm wood introduces natural character, while the ivory upholstery offers a softly textured surface that responds beautifully to surrounding color and materials. Adélaïde feels equally at home against richly saturated walls, layered alongside sculptural furniture, or incorporated into a more restrained interior where its silhouette can take center stage.

Whether positioned as a reading chair, an occasional seat in a bedroom, or a complementary piece in a living room, Adélaïde brings together clarity of form, tactile warmth, and an effortlessly composed presence.

Material Character

The Nature of the Piece

Adélaïde's material expression is built around the contrast between exposed wood and bouclé upholstery. The wood's light, natural-looking finish emphasizes the strong horizontal and vertical lines of the arm structure, making its construction an essential part of the chair's visual identity.

Ivory bouclé introduces a softer, more tactile quality. Its textured surface adds depth to the otherwise restrained palette, creating a gentle counterpoint to the wood's clean edges. Foam cushioning supports the upholstered seat and back, providing comfort within the chair's carefully defined silhouette.

Together, these elements establish a composition that feels warm, modern, and considered—where structure and softness contribute equally to the design.

Additional Information

No two homes come together in quite the same way—and neither do the pieces chosen for them. Our collection brings together furnishings and objects from a variety of makers and manufacturers, each with its own production schedules, shipping methods, and delivery options.

We consider those differences part of the process of sourcing pieces with character. Whether an item arrives by parcel within days, travels by freight, or is prepared especially for your order, our focus remains the same: selecting pieces worth bringing into your home and making the journey from their source to your space as thoughtful as possible.

A well-considered home isn't assembled all at once. It takes shape piece by piece, through objects chosen not simply to fill a space, but to make that space feel like home.
