The Design Story

Handcrafted teak shaped by nature and elevated as monumental sculpture.

The Séverin Teak Sculpture celebrates the expressive character of wood at an architectural scale. Rising nearly six feet high, its sweeping natural form is defined by irregular edges, dramatic openings and an extraordinary network of grain, knots and tonal variation.

Rather than imposing symmetry on the material, Séverin allows the character of the teak to determine the composition. Broad areas of solid wood give way to sculptural voids, creating an ever-changing relationship between mass and negative space. Viewed from across a room, the silhouette is commanding; closer inspection reveals the fissures, contours and organic irregularities that make the surface equally compelling.

A minimal black base lifts the teak from the floor and gives the natural form the presence of a gallery object. Handcrafted in India using an eco-friendly process, Séverin is intended for interiors where an object is allowed space to become part of the architecture itself.

Material Character

The Nature of the Piece

Teak gives Séverin its visual depth through pronounced grain, naturally shifting tones and an irregular surface that resists uniformity. Knots, fissures, openings and changes in contour become part of the composition rather than details to be concealed.

Light moves differently across every ridge and recess, emphasizing the relationship between the substantial areas of timber and the open spaces carved by the wood's organic form. The restrained black base provides a deliberate visual break from the floor, allowing the warmth and complexity of the teak to remain the focus.

Additional Information

No two homes come together in quite the same way—and neither do the pieces chosen for them. Our collection brings together furnishings and objects from a variety of makers and manufacturers, each with its own production schedules, shipping methods, and delivery options.

We consider those differences part of the process of sourcing pieces with character. Whether an item arrives by parcel within days, travels by freight, or is prepared especially for your order, our focus remains the same: selecting pieces worth bringing into your home and making the journey from their source to your space as thoughtful as possible.

A well-considered home isn't assembled all at once. It takes shape piece by piece, through objects chosen not simply to fill a space, but to make that space feel like home.
