The Design Story

Cool blue and warm amber meet in hand-blown glass, where polished transparency and carved-looking texture turn changing light into part of the composition.

The Élise Vase is built around contrast held inside a single fluid form. Saturated blue shifts toward pale aqua before meeting a warm amber field, creating a vertical composition that changes as light moves through the glass. The color is not applied as surface decoration; it is part of the vessel itself, giving the piece depth from every angle and allowing transparency, reflection, and refraction to continually alter what the eye sees.

At 16.5 inches high, Élise has enough scale to anchor a console, mantel, dining surface, or bookshelf without becoming visually cumbersome. Its narrow opening can hold a restrained branch, but the vase is equally compelling left empty, where its asymmetrical color fields and hand-blown form can be read as sculpture. Subtle differences in shape and color are intrinsic to the hand-blown process, making each example individual.

Material Character

The Nature of the Piece

Hand-blown glass gives Élise a sense of depth that changes throughout the day. The blue portion carries a cool, ribbed rhythm that catches highlights along its surface, while the amber side reads warmer and more transparent, revealing fine variations and internal texture beneath the polished exterior. Between them, a softer aqua transition creates the impression of color suspended inside the vessel rather than simply placed upon it.

Because the piece is formed by hand, its appeal lies partly in the slight irregularity inherent to the process. Light passes through thicker and thinner areas differently, reflections sharpen and soften across the curved body, and the blue and amber fields can appear more saturated or more translucent depending on the angle. The result is glass used not merely as a container, but as a material for color, light, and visual depth.

Additional Information

No two homes come together in quite the same way—and neither do the pieces chosen for them. Our collection brings together furnishings and objects from a variety of makers and manufacturers, each with its own production schedules, shipping methods, and delivery options.

We consider those differences part of the process of sourcing pieces with character. Whether an item arrives by parcel within days, travels by freight, or is prepared especially for your order, our focus remains the same: selecting pieces worth bringing into your home and making the journey from their source to your space as thoughtful as possible.

A well-considered home isn't assembled all at once. It takes shape piece by piece, through objects chosen not simply to fill a space, but to make that space feel like home.
