The Design Story

Mediterranean stained-glass geometry in a vivid teal-and-gold palette

Malta translates the rhythm of stained glass into a richly colored geometric wallcovering. Interlocking shapes and lively color relationships suggest sun filtering through decorative panes, while charcoal outlines give the pattern its definition. Teal, warm gold, and soft pink create a spirited composition that feels considered rather than busy.

Drawn from York Wallcoverings' Mediterranean collection, the design celebrates the visual energy of coastal architecture and ornament. Its Multi/Gold colorway sets jewel-toned notes against darker details, bringing depth and animation to a wall without relying on a traditional floral repeat.

Use Malta as the main event in an entryway, behind sculptural living-room furnishings, or as a confident bedroom backdrop. It pairs beautifully with pale stone, walnut, dark metal, and softened brass. York's pre-pasted Sure Strip™ construction activates with water; the pattern has a straight match and a 24-inch vertical repeat.

Material Character

The Nature of the Piece

Malta is made on York's Sure Strip™ high-performance wallcovering substrate, supplied pre-pasted for activation with water. Its visual presence comes from layered printed color and clearly defined forms, rather than any verified embossed or woven surface.

The crisp outlines and shifting colored shapes maintain their decorative clarity up close and from across a room. Gold-toned details play against darker lines while the teal and blush notes soften the pattern's geometry.

No two homes come together in quite the same way—and neither do the pieces chosen for them. Our collection brings together furnishings and objects from a variety of makers and manufacturers, each with its own production schedules, shipping methods, and delivery options.

We consider those differences part of the process of sourcing pieces with character. Whether an item arrives by parcel within days, travels by freight, or is prepared especially for your order, our focus remains the same: selecting pieces worth bringing into your home and making the journey from their source to your space as thoughtful as possible.

A well-considered home isn't assembled all at once. It takes shape piece by piece, through objects chosen not simply to fill a space, but to make that space feel like home.
