The Marin Ceramic Stool | Glossy Blue Glaze

The Marin Ceramic Stool | Glossy Blue Glaze

The Design Story

A saturated glossy blue glaze gives this handcrafted ceramic stool enough presence to work as seating, side table, footrest, or pedestal.

The Marin Ceramic Stool turns a familiar garden-stool form into a concentrated field of color. Handcrafted in ceramic and finished in a glossy blue glaze, the piece has the density and visual clarity of a small architectural object. Its simple scale allows the finish to do the work, reflecting light across the surface and giving the blue greater depth than a matte treatment would.

Designed for indoor or outdoor use, Marin can act as an extra seat, a compact side table, a footrest, or a pedestal for a planter. That flexibility makes it especially useful in rooms that need color without another large piece of furniture. Whether placed beside upholstered seating or used on a covered patio, it brings a clean ceramic counterpoint to wood, metal, stone, and textile surfaces.

Material Character

The Nature of the Piece

Ceramic gives Marin a dense, grounded quality that feels very different from lightweight occasional furniture. The material allows the form to remain visually simple while still reading as substantial, and its hard surface makes the piece feel closer to a sculptural object than a conventional upholstered stool.

The glossy blue glaze is what gives the ceramic its final character. Light travels across the reflective surface rather than disappearing into it, intensifying the color and making the piece shift subtly with its surroundings. The result is saturated but disciplined: one material, one strong finish, and a form that can move between decorative and functional use.

Additional Information

No two homes come together in quite the same way—and neither do the pieces chosen for them. Our collection brings together furnishings and objects from a variety of makers and manufacturers, each with its own production schedules, shipping methods, and delivery options.

We consider those differences part of the process of sourcing pieces with character. Whether an item arrives by parcel within days, travels by freight, or is prepared especially for your order, our focus remains the same: selecting pieces worth bringing into your home and making the journey from their source to your space as thoughtful as possible.

A well-considered home isn't assembled all at once. It takes shape piece by piece, through objects chosen not simply to fill a space, but to make that space feel like home.
