The Mathilde Accent Chair | Cream Bouclé & Black Iron

The Mathilde Accent Chair | Cream Bouclé & Black Iron

The Design Story

Nubby cream bouclé softens a slim black iron frame, giving this upholstered armchair enough comfort for daily use and enough structure to read as an accent.

The Mathilde Accent Chair proves that a chair designed around dining proportions can live far beyond the table. Its cream bouclé upholstery wraps a softly curved back, padded seat, and relaxed rolled arms, while the matte black iron frame stays deliberately lean beneath the softness. The contrast gives Mathilde a tailored presence without making it feel formal.

At 29.5 inches wide, the chair has enough generosity to function comfortably as occasional seating while remaining visually lighter than a traditional lounge chair. Place it beside a console, at a writing desk, opposite a sofa, or in a bedroom corner where a full-scale armchair would feel too heavy. Its original dining function becomes an advantage rather than a limitation: supportive, compact, and flexible enough to move through several rooms.

Material Character

The Nature of the Piece

Mathilde depends on the contrast between texture and line. The cream bouclé has a nubby, dimensional surface that catches soft shadow across the seat, back, and padded arms, preventing the pale upholstery from reading flat. Padding gives those upholstered elements volume, while the neutral tone keeps the chair visually calm enough to move between different rooms.

Beneath the fabric, the black iron frame introduces precision. Its slender legs and dark finish create a clear structural outline against the softer upholstery, making the chair feel lighter than its fully padded seat would suggest. The materials divide their roles cleanly: textile for comfort and tactile depth, iron for support, contrast, and architectural definition.

Additional Information

No two homes come together in quite the same way—and neither do the pieces chosen for them. Our collection brings together furnishings and objects from a variety of makers and manufacturers, each with its own production schedules, shipping methods, and delivery options.

We consider those differences part of the process of sourcing pieces with character. Whether an item arrives by parcel within days, travels by freight, or is prepared especially for your order, our focus remains the same: selecting pieces worth bringing into your home and making the journey from their source to your space as thoughtful as possible.

A well-considered home isn't assembled all at once. It takes shape piece by piece, through objects chosen not simply to fill a space, but to make that space feel like home.
