The Design Story

An expressive interplay of teal, slate, gold, and white strokes against a dramatic near-black ground.

Colette explores the tension between movement and structure through a dense composition of intersecting lines. Teal, slate blue, gold, and white strokes travel in shifting directions across a near-black ground, overlapping and separating in a rhythm that recalls the irregular character of woven textiles. Some marks appear tightly gathered, creating concentrated passages of color, while others open into darker intervals that reveal the depth of the underlying field. The individual strokes remain visible within the larger composition, allowing the pattern to feel energetic and layered without dissolving into visual noise. What emerges is an abstract surface with the suggestion of hand-worked material, translated into a distinctly graphic language.

Across a larger wall, Colette becomes an architectural element defined by movement rather than a conventional repeating motif. Its darker foundation gives the room a sense of enclosure and depth, while the crossing lines introduce flashes of color that shift in prominence as the eye moves across the surface. Against walnut, smoked oak, cognac leather, or dark stone, the warmer gold strokes become especially expressive; alongside ivory upholstery, brushed metal, and cooler blue accents, the teal and slate tones take on greater definition. Colette is particularly compelling in a study, dining room, or intimate sitting room where pattern is allowed to participate fully in the composition. Rather than demanding that every surrounding element compete for attention, it establishes a richly textured visual framework for furniture with confident silhouettes and materials with character.

Material Character

The Nature of the Piece

Colette is produced on a 190 gsm non-woven substrate composed of paper with textile fibers, providing a defined physical foundation for its intricate printed composition. The matte surface controls reflection, allowing the near-black ground to maintain its depth while preserving the distinction between individual teal, slate, gold, and white strokes. Although the artwork suggests overlapping threads and woven material, that effect belongs to the printed pattern rather than an actual textile weave. This distinction is central to Colette's character: the visual complexity of fabric interpreted through the precision of high-resolution printing.

At 0.34 mm thick, the wallcovering is designed for edge-to-edge installation with a straight pattern match, allowing its densely layered composition to continue across adjoining panels. The material is PVC-free, uses a certified FSC non-woven substrate, and carries a Blue Wool Rating of 8 for fade resistance. Its wipe-clean finish supports everyday care in dry interior environments, preserving the clarity of the printed artwork without requiring the wallcovering to behave like a moisture-resistant or scrubbable material.

No two homes come together in quite the same way—and neither do the pieces chosen for them. Our collection brings together furnishings and objects from a variety of makers and manufacturers, each with its own production schedules, shipping methods, and delivery options.

We consider those differences part of the process of sourcing pieces with character. Whether an item arrives by parcel within days, travels by freight, or is prepared especially for your order, our focus remains the same: selecting pieces worth bringing into your home and making the journey from their source to your space as thoughtful as possible.

A well-considered home isn't assembled all at once. It takes shape piece by piece, through objects chosen not simply to fill a space, but to make that space feel like home.
