The Design Story

Ruched teal chenille wraps a compact hourglass form in densely mottled texture.

Tomlin compresses the familiar ottoman into a sculptural hourglass, pairing two softly rounded volumes around a sharply cinched center. The silhouette is playful at first glance, but its symmetry and controlled proportions give it a distinctly architectural presence.

Teal performance chenille is flecked with ivory throughout, producing a dimensional surface that moves between saturated blue-green and softer tonal variation. Beneath the upholstery, fiber-wrapped foam creates a comfortably cushioned seat while an internal plywood structure provides support.

At just 18.5 inches across, Tomlin introduces color, texture, and additional seating without demanding significant floor space. Use it as a footrest, game-table companion, occasional seat, or a deliberately sculptural accent.

The Nature of the Piece

Tomlin's performance chenille is densely woven with ivory variation against a deeper teal ground, giving the upholstery a mottled, dimensional character.

The fabric follows the ottoman's rounded contours closely, allowing texture and silhouette to work together rather than treating upholstery as a simple outer covering. Fiber-wrapped foam beneath the surface softens the structure while preserving the hourglass profile's clarity.

Teal shifts across the chenille from richer blue-green passages to lighter ivory-flecked areas, producing a finish that changes subtly with light and viewing angle.

Rather than reading as a single saturated color, the upholstery has enough visual variation to pair comfortably with warm woods, stone, brass-toned metals, charcoal, ivory, and other deeper interior finishes.

Damages
